How do you react to negative people?

Face it, not everyone you encounter is like you, full of sunshine and rainbows. We all find ourselves dealing with negative people at some point in our day. How we react is important. We should try to maintain a calm and composed approach.

Some of the ways I have learned to deal with these “Negative Nellies and Pissed off Pauls” seem to help tremendously.

Here are some ideas that work for me.

Don't take it personally: Understand that negativity often stems from the person's own issues or insecurities. Their negativity is not a reflection of your worth or abilities.

Stay positive: Maintain a positive mindset and don't let their negativity affect your mood. When you maintain positive thoughts and focus on the things that bring you joy, the nastiness of others disappears.

This one can be hard for some but if you can try to empathize and listen: if you can learn to understand their perspective and empathize with their feelings, it can help diffuse the situation and show that you value their opinion, even if you don't agree with it.

If someone's negativity becomes overwhelming or toxic, by all means set boundaries. Politely let them know that you will not engage in negative conversations or tolerate disrespectful behavior.

Finally, limit your exposure to these life sucking parasites. Instead, surround yourself with positive and supportive people who uplift you, inspire you and love you.

Remember, you have the power to control your reactions and maintain a positive mindset, regardless of the negativity around you.

Go make a difference in someone’s life today!
